Inaugural Montgomery County Imagination Library Grown-Up Spelling Bee
Tuesday, September 10th, 2019 at the Roxy Regional Theater
Complimentary beverages at 5:00pm
Spelling Bee begins at 6:15pm
On Tuesday, September 10 the inaugural Montgomery County Imagination Library Grown-Up Spelling Bee will take place at the Roxy Regional Theater. We will start the evening with complimentary beer and wine from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. and get buzzing with the Spelling Bee by 6:15. All proceeds will go to support early children’s literacy in Montgomery County by getting books in the hands of children.
Our own County Mayor Jim Durrett and County Trustee Kimberly Wiggins will serve as judges along with City Mayor Joe Pitts and Representative Jason Hodges. The Bee will be co-emceed by Valerie Guzman and Ryan Bowie. This will be great fun for an exceptional cause!
You can expect a few other differences from the spelling bees of our youth: teams can be bought back, bribing the judges is encouraged, and lifelines and “Save the Bees” votes can instantly foil your opponents lead. You better watch your stinger, because teams that are down may not necessarily be out!
Tickets are now on sale for $20 and space is limited. Click the link below to purchase tickets or contact Michelle Newell at firstname.lastname@example.org for an alternative ticket purchase option.
All proceeds will be used to pay for the nearly 10,000 books sent out to children right here in Montgomery County. Every donation is matched by our partner program – Governor’s Books from Birth Foundation – to cover our county book bill of $220,000 per year. To keep our kids supplied with books at the rate we are growing – $110,000 of that book bill must come from fundraising within Montgomery County annually.
The Montgomery County Imagination Library is managed through the Montgomery County Public Library.
