Keeping Cool in the Kitchen

Posted on: November 4th, 2016 by tcg_admin No Comments

From Thanksgiving to Christmas Parties, your kitchen will be getting a lot of use this holiday season.

With the holidays upon us, most of us will be heating up our ovens and stoves more than usual! All this added time in the kitchen can leave the chef feeling overheated, but what about the rest of your home?

Check out these tips for keeping cool in the kitchen, without making the rest of your household shiver!

1) Minimize heat production.

Although the oven is a staple in most traditional holiday recipes, many meals and sides can be altered to be cooked in a slow cooker. This method can save you time, money, and can help keep your kitchen from heating up as often! From staple entrees, to desserts, and warm beverages, slow cooker recipes have come a long way. You can find some inspiration for using your crockpot to help keep your kitchen cool here.

2) Invest in a fan.

As temperatures outside (eventually) begin to drop, cranking down the heat simply may not be an option while preparing meals in most homes. Letting temps throughout the house drop too low may be a recipe for serious discomfort, especially in homes with small children or elderly family members. Using a small fan will keep the air in your kitchen circulating which will help keep the chef cool.

3) Stay hydrated.

People are conscious about getting plenty of water when it is hot outside, but staying hydrated is important year round! Drinking lots of H2O can help you stay cool in the kitchen without turning on the AC.

As cooler weather and the joy of the holidays approach, these simple tips can help you stay cool while whipping up treats for family and friends! What’s the Point of Regular HVAC Maintenance?

Posted on: March 21st, 2016 by tcg_admin 4 Comments

My system is running well, can I skip maintenance?

Although you can technically skip maintenance, it is not advisable! Imagine doing the same with your car. If you never have the oil changed or a tune-up until the check-engine light comes on, you can’t expect it to last more than a few of years. With that in mind, there is one very practical reason to schedule maintenance and that is saving money! There are two ways scheduling yearly maintenance will save you money: prevention and energy efficiency.

  1. Prevention:

Regular check ups give your technician more chances to detect small problems and correct them, before they become major issues. Repairing a small refrigerant leak may not be a huge charge, but buying a new compressor when low refrigerant levels burn your current one out can cost a significant amount of money.

  2. Energy Efficiency:

Maintenance service will ensure that your HVAC system is running at maximum efficiency by cleaning out your system and making sure that everything is in optimal condition. When your HVAC is running well, it uses less energy to cool and heat your house. Lower energy usage means lower bills and less environmental impact.

So what are some of the things we will do in a routine maintenance visit?
